William L. Pierce
William L. Pierce, Omega, 1865, Phi Alpha 1890-1891
William L. Pierce, Omega, 1865, had a very successful real estate
career. Brother Pierce was co-owner of Tappan, McKillopp & Company, a commercial
realtor, with offices in Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., Pittsburgh and Baltimore. Later he became a partner in Pierce & Ware and a full owner of William L. Pierce & Company,
Chicago. He was one of the organizers of the Chicago Board of Realtors and its vice
president in 1884.
During the Civil War, Pierce served with the 134th Regiment of the Voluntary Army of the United States (U.S.V.) and was an active member of Grand Army of the Republic (G.A.R.).
Brother Pierce was one of the founders of the original Omega chapter at the University
of Chicago.
