Jay Rothberg – Delta Chi Chapter – American University – 1969

Headshot of Jay Rothberg.Jay Rothberg, American University Delta Chi ’69, had a long and distinguished career as a college student personnel administrator, association executive and leader within Zeta Psi.  He served as a Vice President and Director at the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) for 26 years; the last 13 as the Vice President – Office of the CEO.  Prior to joining the AICPA, Jay served as Assistant Executive Director and Executive Director of the Society of Louisiana Certified Public Accountants, as a Regional Director for the National Automobile Dealers Association (NADA) and as a student personnel administrator at three private colleges.

Within Zeta Psi, Jay was a charter member and the first Phi of the Delta Chi chapter at The American University.  After graduation, he served as the Expansion Committee Chairman from 1973-1984 and led the fraternity, with Executive Director and later Phi Alpha Greg McElroy, in establishing 12 new chapters and re-activating 10 chapters. He also served as the Educational Foundation Scholarship Committee Chair from 1973-1983.  He was Phi Alpha and President of the Zeta Psi Educational Foundation from 1985-1987.

Jay is proud that many of the young undergraduates of the expansion and re-activation chapters that he was involved with later became Elders leaders within Zeta Psi, even Phi Alphas such as Michael Frieman, Stuart Bowers, Dave Busacca and Dave Hunter.”
