Richard George Shuhany, Mu, Theta 1968, Phi Alpha, 1988-1999

Richard George Shuhany, Mu, Theta 1968 served as the 120th Phi Alpha of Zeta Psi Fraternity and President of the Zeta Psi Educational Foundation from 1988-1990. Richard’s first, and certainly most memorable, job was as Assistant Executive Secretary of Zeta Psi, working under the unforgettable Louis R. Bruce in New York City in 1968-69, where he successfully established chapters at Purdue University and American University. He subsequently served on both the Fraternity and Educational Foundation boards for 23 years and made many lifelong friendships. Brother Shuhany  received the Distinguished Service Award  (the Fraternity’s highest honor), at the 2002 Calgary Zeta Psi Convention.

 

Picture of Richard Shuhany.Richard received a BA in Economics from the University of Alberta and a CPA from the Chartered Professional Accountants of Alberta and a CA from the Association of Chartered Accountants of Alberta. Richard has been a corporate finance specialist having completed many
successful merger and acquisition transactions. He has been on the Boards and Chaired many political, not for profit and charitable organizations.

Richard received the Lifetime Achievement award for his dedication to lung health as a Board member and Chair of the Canadian Lung Association. He has also served on the Lung Association of Alberta and the Northwest Territories as a Director and Officer for the past twenty years.

Richard is currently the Board Chair of Nano Green Biorefineries Inc., a start-up Bio Technology Company that holds several patents for the manufacture of Cellulose Nano Crystals (CNC). In addition he is a Trustee and Director to a number of Trusts, Public and Private companies.
