Thomas L. Cross, Theta Xi, 1924, was a prominent attorney and judge in the Province of Alberta. His father, Charles W. Cross, K.C., Theta Xi 1895, was the first attorney general for the Province of Alberta. Two of his uncles were also Theta Xi Zetes.
Upon graduation from the University of Toronto, Brother Cross returned to Alberta and
completed his Bachelor of Law at the University of Alberta. Following that, he practiced
law with distinction in the firm of Short & Cross (which exists today as part of Duncan
Craig LLP) until his elevation to the Bench in 1948. He was a judge of the District Court
of Alberta and served on the Alberta Supreme Court, Appellate Division from 1954-
1969.
Brother Cross was instrumental in the founding of the Mu Theta chapter at the
University of Alberta in 1930.
