Francis Lawton, Epsilon, 1869, graduated from Columbia Law
School in 1871 after graduating from Brown University. He was a “lawyer of prominence” (cited “The Story of Zeta Psi”) in New York City.
Lawton was active with his alma mater and Zeta Psi. He was secretary-treasurer of the Brown University Club in New York City and secretary of the Brown University Alumni
Association. He is still recognized by Brown as the author with Francis E. Bliss of “The Water Procession” (1867-1868), a poem commemorating the march to downtown Providence when the local authorities removed the bucket from the campus well.
Brother Lawton was vice president of the Zeta Psi Club of New York and wrote “The Badge of Zeta Psi” for the Phi Chapter Dinner on December 15, 1891.
