Austen G. Fox, Rho, 1869
Austen G. Fox, (September 7, 1849 – May 15, 1937) Rho,1869, Phi Alpha 1890-1891, was a prominent New York City lawyer and philanthropist. He was a close friend and contemporary of former U.S. Senator and Secretary of State Elihu Root and served on the Board of the Carnegie Endowment for Peace. Fox was the Chairman and Counsel of the Moderation League and was an
early advocate for repeal of Prohibition. Fox was President of the Harvard University
Alumni Association and served two terms as President of the Harvard Club of New York
City (1904-1905; 1908-1909).
