Notable Zetes

For over 170 years, Zeta Psi has scaffolded our undergraduate brothers to be better leaders in their careers, communities, and in service to all humankind. We have been fortunate to have played a role in countless inspirational men’s lives throughout the years. Here is a list of some Zetes who have powerfully impacted the world.

Van Houten, Eugene, L.

Achievements: Zeta Psi Alpha Phi Alpha (1948-1949), 3rd and 6th President of the Zeta Psi Educational Foundation, (1949 and 1953-1954).

Van Siclen, Richard

Achievements: 2014 Zeta Psi Red Grange Sportsman of the Year Honoree. 3 time All-American. Professional boxer with a 10-0 record as a light heavy boxer (as of July, 2021).

Varadhan, Gopalakrishnan

Achievements: In August 2001, Gopal joined Cantor Fitzgerald as Managing Director of its interest rate derivatives business in the United States. He started a ska-inspired band, City Beat, while attending the Bronx High School of Science during the 1980's, cutting a record and playing CBGB in Lower Manhattan. Worked as an engineer on controversial punk rock star G.G. Allin’s “Hated In The Nation” album.

Watson, Mark

Achievements: While with the New York State Energy, Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA), Managed the Environmental Monitoring, Evaluation and Protection Program (2008-2016) Managed all projects related to acid deposition and mercury pollution. (2000-2008) Supervised the country's largest high-efficiency, low-emitting wood heat research program. Initiated a multi-million dollar climate change research program in New York State.

A member of Stanford's Athletic Hall of Fame, 2010 inductee of the USTA/Midwest Section Hall of Fame. 2006 Pac-10 Coach of the Year. 1974 Men's NCAA Tennis Champion, Singles and with Jim Delaney, Doubles. A two-time All-American (1974, '75).

Achievements: Former Chairman and CEO, Connecticut Mutual Insurance Company; namesake of Dartmouth College's Zimmerman Fitness Center. Dartmouth trustee for twenty years, from 1952 to 1972, and chaired the board from 1970 to 1972. 1951 recipient of the John Newton Russell Memorial Award, the highest honor that can be bestowed upon an individual in the life insurance and financial planning industry. Insurance Hall of Fame Laureate, Inducted 1969
