40 under 40 — Chris Yeung
Psi, 2007 — Recognized in: 2018
Christopher Yeung began his professional financial career in 2005, where he joined BlackRock to work in its Portfolio Analytics Group, specializing in analyzing portfolio risk for financial institutions. He was recruited by Goldman, Sachs & Co. to work in its Equity Derivative Strategy unit during the height of the 2008 financial crisis, focusing on writing algorithms to identify actionable dislocations in volatility markets. He was later hired back by BlackRock to centralize portfolio management systems after its acquisition of Barclays Global Investors and its iShares ETF business, and later worked to design, build and deploy an equity risk model to assess risk on over $300B in equity assets. Along with fellow Psi brother Sam Lundin, Chris co-founded Vimbly Technologies in 2011 – a company that seeks to build and deploy technology in order to enable growth across industries, from streamlining real estate transactions, to building telecom platforms, to developing cryptocurrency trading algorithms. Mr. Yeung graduated with a B.Sc degree from Cornell University with a concentration in Electrical & Computer Engineering.
“Becoming a brother of the Psi chapter was one of the most transformative experiences of my life. As a college student, the brothers at Zeta Psi were an inviting group I could relate to, share interests with, and ultimately be a part of. These friendships remained deep years after college, and in 2011, I co-founded Vimbly with Sam Lundin, a fellow Psi chapter Zete of my pledge class. Today in 2018, I’m proud that the lineage continues at Vimbly, with Zetes spanning 4 different generations currently employed at the company, and I’m optimistic as ever in our ability to do great things as a team and leave the woodpile higher.”
