COVID-19 Statement

The international spread of COVID-19 in our communities has shuttered most of the colleges and Universities and changed the daily routines of all Zeta Psi members worldwide. Zeta Psi is committed to supporting our chapters, individual members, and communities in any way possible during this emergency.

Please reference this page for general recommendations on chapter operations, but above all else be sure to follow specific advisories issued by your campus or local, state/province, and national health authorities. Thank you for everything you are doing to help “flatten the curve.”

Zeta Psi has been working with active and elder chapter leadership to provide timely updates on the situation through weekly 1-on-1 video conferences and constant communication through our project management app, BaseCamp. Our primary focus has been the health and safety of all of our students and their continuing education in the often unfamiliar landscape of remote learning.

As of March 26th, we have been preparing our teams for shelter in place statuses being instituted by local governments. All regional elders associations are being asked to hold a general meeting to update their local groups and to help prepare the students in any way possible. Again, Zeta Psi is encouraging all members to abide by social distancing and shelter in place procedures. Please read below for operational status of IHQ and the chapters.

Update for 04/06:

It is with deep regret that we must announce the 2020 Convention in Seattle, Washington has been canceled. It will not be possible to safely and responsibly host a Convention this August. All registration fees will be refunded and the invoice for the Convention Assessment will be reversed. Additional details will be provided to the Chapter Treasurers. We plan to conduct Annual Meetings for the Fraternity and Foundation over Zoom. We will share additional information as it becomes available.

IHQ Operations

  • Staff are all accustomed to remote work and are still available during travel restrictions. We encourage chapter leaders to reach out via Basecamp.
  • All staff travel is suspended.
  • Remaining chapter visits will take place via Zoom and will be completed by April 2nd.
  • Zeta Psi has moved the April 4th Leadership Training Institute online. Registration is now open.
  • The International Headquarters Building in Pearl River, NY, is closed to visitors until further notice.
  • At this time, the 173rd Annual Convention in Seattle will take place as planned and registration is open. We do not have a timeline for a final determination. If the Convention is postponed or canceled, all registrations will be refunded.

Chapter Operations and New Members

  • Zeta Psi has established emergency authorizations to initiate members. All candidates should be brothers by their originally scheduled initiation date. 193 members have been initiated so far this semester with the help of the emergency authorizations (as of Friday, March 27th). We expect approximately 400 total initiates this semester.
  • New member education may be continued after initiation.
  • RML 101, all accreditation reports, and the chapter award applications are due April 15, 2020.

Remote Chapter Operations

  • Chapters should continue meet via video conference on a regular schedule.
  • We encourage chapters to support each other through regular contact while maintaining social distance.
  • IHQ holds ten Zoom business licenses that may be reserved upon request.
  • While many activities have been disrupted, there are still ongoing opportunities for brotherhood, academics, service, and career guidance/mentoring.

Travel

  • IHQ recommends that all chapters cancel any visits to other Zeta Psi chapters until further notice
  • All unnecessary travel should be postponed or canceled except in the cases of students returning home or to other relatives.
