40 Under 40 – Charles Madon

Charles Madon was an active brother of the Alpha Psi chapter during an extremely pivotal time in the chapter’s life. At the time, Alpha Psi was a smaller chapter on the McGill campus, but with the help of Charles and a number of other brothers it eventually grew to the strong chapter we know today. Charles spent six years on the Kids for Kids charity gala organizing committee in Montreal supporting the Montreal Children’s hospital, each year raising between $50k-100k. Upon graduating in 2010, Charles Volunteered on the Alpha Psi Elders Board of Directors, culminating in two years as president (2014-16). Throughout that time he has reorganized the elder chapter, brought fresh life onto the elder board, and led the chapter to winning seven consecutive Gold Chapter awards and five McElroy Order of Excellence awards. He also met individually with members of the active chapter to provide career advice, CV review, and interview prep for the financial services domain.

Beyond Zeta Psi, Charles has also excelled on the academic front. He scored 94th percentile on his GMAT, and was admitted to the MBA program at the University of Oxford’s Saïd Business School, where he made the Dean’s List in his final semester (top 10% of the class) and graduated with distinction. He has also earned his Chartered Financial Analyst designation, a gold standard in the field of finance globally requiring upwards of 1000 hours of studying over multiple years.

“I was officially initiated into the Alpha Psi chapter in Fall 2006, but in truth I had lived with part of Zeta Psi ever since the age of 6 when my father first gave me his Zete hat. He was truly my brother and father (BroFa) and gave me as much guidance during my early days as any brother could have.

When I joined our chapter, we were small in numbers but large in heart. With an all-time low of 12 actives and $10k in debt during my second year, we fought hard against an executive director we had never heard of (who is this ‘Dave Hunter’ guy anyway?) and spun more webs in order to delay any closures. Thanks to proper scouting of both “Beauties” and “Studs” as well as a tight fiscal authority (who would walk you to the ATM to pay dues), Alpha Psi managed to squeak back into IHQ’s good-books. Had times been easier, it would have been hard to say if we would have prospered so much later, but suffice to say we had the time of our lives and grew as close as ever.”
